Safe at Home, formerly Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N)Rebuilding Together’s Safe at Home program was created to address the needs of homeowners that may require volunteer-driven improvements that can be achieved year-round and through smaller groups of volunteers. Typically the N2N projects consist of safety-related repairs that may require skilled volunteers. All assistance through N2N should fall under one of the areas of assistance listed below. SAFE AT HOME Areas of Assistance Accessibility/Mobility – Many living spaces do not lend to senior and disabled mobility. For many of our homeowners, this is compounded with the fact that they are on fixed income and unable to make the necessary mobility improvements. Providing a ramp or the widening of a doorway can extend a homeowners independence.
Aging in Place – “Aging-in-place”, means remaining in one's home safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level. Incorporating several aging-in-place measures means the reassurance of being able to call a house a "home" for a lifetime. Weatherization / Energy Efficiency – Simple changes to a door, window or light bulb can make a significant difference for a home’s warmth and heating costs. Our weatherization and energy efficiency services are cost-effective measures that will make an instant difference. Home and Fire Safety – Over the years, many safety measures are neglected in most homes. Changing a battery in a smoke detector can help avoid loss of life while a motion security light can deter unwanted persons on a homeowner’s property. Join Our year round Neighbor to Neighbor Program
Throughout the year, our Safe at Home program provides small volunteer teams to perform repairs that improve accessibility and mobility within the home. We typically operate every Thursday and once a Saturday each month. We are growing this program and will be serving homeowners other days of the week as well.
